Colegio de Ingenieros de Venezuela (CIV).
The Colegio de Ingenieros de Venezuela has a glorious tradition that dates
back to the years of independence and whose high representative is Antonio José
de Sucre, the Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho, and the body of engineers military
that he embraced the Republican cause.
Then you come to join another of the great Venezuelan glories in the field
of the science of mathematics. Juan Manuel Cajigal, first President of the
College and founder of the famous Academy that graduated the first engineers
trained in the Republic: names as distinguished as the of Rafael María Baralt,
pride of the lyrics of America; Manuel María Urbaneja, Olegario Meneses, Juan
José Aguerrevere, make up the first class of young people placed under cover of
the Sage Cajigal. Follow other promotions on whose shoulders will rest the huge
task of physically build one nation under the worst conditions of a Venezuela
shattered by war and mired in poverty.
The school of engineers in Venezuela settles on October 28, 1861, under the
Decree of the President of the Republic Manuel Felipe Tovar, of date 24 October
1860, in which simultaneously regulates the Academy of mathematics and creates
the Association of engineers; in this Act were present 22 engineers of the 61
that initially would have to integrate it, for they were very few men devoted
to this profession, which in the course of our history have been identified
with the tasks of the development of Venezuela. In article 45 of this Decree is
expressed as follows: all the engineers of the Republic shall constitute a body
to be called Engineers Association, which the Government took under his
protection and to serve as an advisory body, attached to the Ministry of war
and Navy until the year 1881, which was attached to the Ministry of educationto
integrate into civil society organisations.
Since then, the walked path, culminating in more than 120,000 engineers,
architects and related professionals who today make up the CIV is long.
VIC had wandered from one site to another without own residence, first in
the College of St. Maria where settled, then at the Chamber of Commerce, in
whose classrooms were reinstated in 1922, to finally look at the old House of
the Central University. Finally acquired own seat in its building of Park los
Caobos, which was installed in 1941, when it opened its new headquarters,
initiated in 1940 by Eng. Enrique Jorge Aguerrevere, for that then Minister of
public works, erected in accordance with the project of Luis Eduardo Chataing,
one of the great architects of the contemporary Venezuela. He then had the
country with thousand of engineers, architects and related professionals.
The Colegio de Ingenieros is a moral body of public character, with legal
personality and own patrimony, with all the rights, obligations, powers and
responsibilities, pointing you to the law of the exercise of engineering,
architecture and related professions. This organization has as a primary
purpose, serve as guardian of the public interest and act as Advisor to the
State in matters within their competence, promoting the progress of science and
technology, watching practice and ensuring the general interests of the
professionals who gathered in her womb and in particular for the dignity,
rights and the improvement of its members.
